The GKT CC 2nd XI had a very successful season in 2019, winning the LUSL (T20) league and narrowly coming 2nd (joint with 1st, lower NRR) in the BUCS (British University and College Sports) 5A league, gaining promotion to the 4B league.

Our home grounds are Highgate Cricket club, Sunbury Cricket Club and King’s grounds such as The Griffin which have exceptional facilities and allow games to be recorded using a pitch-side camera.

Every year the 2nd XI strive to compete with some of the best teams in London and win both the BUCS and LUSL leagues. Although there is a competitive edge to the team with frequent and demanding training sessions, the 2nd XI also has a great social scene; from team meals to a weekly sports night with the other GKT CC teams.

The 2nd XI compete for 3 trophies every year:

BUCS cricket is the official 50-over national cricket competition for universities all across the UK. Following promotion last year and with the current talent, our aim is to seek promotion year-on-year. In the 2019/20 season, the 2nd XI achieved big wins against RUMS and LSE but a loss against UCL meant the team narrowly missed on the title. The 2nd XI will aim to return to win the title in the next season and add to the collection of GKTCC silverware.

LUSL cricket is a T20 competition involving very prestigious universities in London such as Imperial, UCL, RUMS, KCL and LSE. In the 2018/19 season last year, GKTCC 2nd XI won their first ever T20 LUSL title with 5 wins out of 5, imposing their dominance in this league. Having been promoted to the highest division, our aim remains to top the league table and retain our title. This confidence comes from some of last season’s matches, including huge wins against London school of Economics (LSE), Queen Mary University of London (QM) and a 10 wicket derby win against KCL.

In addition to the annual Macadam cup, there is the PACS cup, a new addition from the 2019/20 season. PACS cup is a T20 match between GKTCC and their rivals KCLCC. This fixture takes place every year in March and is always the first game of the season. It serves as a great platform to start the season with a win and is followed by a legendary night out with all the teams at GKT.
