The Academy Programme
Over the winter 15-20 members are selected as part of the GKT CC Academy Programme - the only of its kind in the capital. The training programme has been designed to provide competitive cricketers at King's College London with a chance to balance their busy work schedule with unprecedented opportunities to improve their cricket skills. An on hand coach, first class facilities and competitive colleagues ensure the academy provides a unique platform to enhance cricket skills during university.
This training programme runs from October to March, and requires a minimum of 4 hours of weekly dedication. Those who make it onto the programme will have a high chance of representing the 1st XI in the summer, though consistent attendance is mandatory.
For the 2020/21 Academy, the scheme has been revamped thanks to our on-field success. We have now been granted unprecedented access to unrivalled first-class facilities at county grounds, which no other university cricket side in London can match. Academy members are also exposed to psychology workshops and weekly Strength & Conditioning sessions, running from October to March.
At the end of March, the Academy will then head on a Pre-Season cricket tour to the Desert Springs Resort, Spain. A 5 day trip including access to nets, outdoor facilities & two competitive fixtures will mark an end to the scheme and the beginning of the summer season ahead.
Furthermore, Academy members are then given the opportunity to make use of our strong partnership with Sunbury Cricket Club. Members have the opportunity to show their quality to the leading captains at SCC and gives them a wonderful opportunity to join an incredibly competitive club around London.
