The GKTCC Indoor second team is a semi-competitive side with the main aim of introducing new members to university cricket.
Competing in the Surrey Slam Indoor League on Thursday evenings, this side gives members the chance to play against competitive universities and clubs during the off-season, and often provides the first playing opportunity for new members. The indoor 2nd XI prides itself on inclusivity; players with a wide range of experience and ability, ranging from 1st XI regulars to those who have never played before, come together and provide the perfect environment for improvement, integration and recreation.
Despite its self-assigned label of ‘semi-competitive’, the indoor side has not failed to show its quality over the past few years, boasting impressive wins against 1st XI university sides across the country (including our own!) and competing admirably in the National Association of Medical Schools Indoor Tournament.
The indoor 2nd XI is a stress-free platform on which players can prove their ability and is a pathway to the senior teams which many current players have gone through. If you’re looking for a side with quality, good blokes, and even better banter, then the Indoor Second Team is the one for you!
